Johanna Baudou’s ceramic installations are handmade by her in a workshop in Morocco in collaboration with local craftsmen. Their making requires time and techniques that are transmitted over a long tradition. She is particularly mindful of the elegance of handcraft and how they can be elevated to a designed art piece.
The ceramic curtain “Color field” is composed of bars hanging in the void that form both a unit of measurement and stretch in the infinite. The gradient colours of each piece evoke a fragment of landscape and horizon, referring to the idea of the visible and the invisible, presence and absence.
